How are encapsulated marginal people and constructive marginal people different?
What will be an ideal response?
By explaining how they are different, students will be defining what the two types of marginal peoples are.
Encapsulated marginal people feel constrained and "trapped" as they attempt to negotiate living on the border between cultures. They may try to assimilate, but never feel integrated, comfortable, or "at home." On the other hand, constructive marginal people thrive in a border dweller life; they see the benefits of engaging in multiple cultures while at the same time recognizing the challenges of living on the border.
