As increasing numbers of employers now turn to social media to gain information about both job applicants’ and their own employees’ character, personality, and potential for job success, they are able to determine, to some degree, the interests of those potential and current employees. In this way, the potential or current employer can be how a person’s personal and professional lives may spill over into one another. The employer can better determine if this person, based on their Facebook postings, is a good fit for the organization or if their online activity might preclude them from working for a particular organization.
