Affirmative action programs are an attempt to cure or equalize the years of unequal treatment experienced by minorities and women, and to prevent such discrimination in the future. They are used primarily in employment and educational settings. Opinions regarding the ppropriateness or fairness of such programs are highly subjective. Look for well thought out and defended arguments in students' responses.
