Begin by previewing (skimming) the chapter to get an idea of the overall contents. Next, question yourself as to what information should be gleaned from the chapter. Then read the chapter, thinking about the material as you read it. You should reflect on the material as you read it and try to link it to other material in the text or your own personal experiences. At the end of each section, recite the material that was covered by actively restating the major points. Finally, after you have finished the chapter, review all of the sections you read and try to see how the major points relate to one another.
