Pedagogy
The text discusses four aspects of pedagogical competencies: purpose, content, communication skills, and professional development. Briefly, describe the importance of each pedagogical competency and give an original example of each based on your intended or possible major. Then, based on your reading, discussion, and reflection (in or out of class), identify the aspect or aspects that will challenge your personal and/or professional growth. Explain your answer(s). If possible, identify one or more steps you might use (almost) immediately to increase your pedagogical competencies. Include only practical and feasible possibilities.

ANS: Scoring guide:
Key elements that should appear in an appropriate response:
* The importance of each pedagogical competency and its subordinate components should be clearly addressed, and an original example of each should be provided in terms of the student's projected major. Thus, a minimum of eight responses is required for full credit. Omission of the subcomponents of each competency will result in partial credit only.
* The second part of the assignment requires that the student reflect on his or her personal qualities and professional competencies and provide clear explanations of reasons for choosing one or more aspects as potential areas of growth. Appropriate responses require the identification of at least one of the four aspects with a well thought-out reason or series of reasons for selecting that component (or those components). Vague or incomplete responses will be insufficient for full credit.
* The third part, intended to carry reflection to the level of potential action, requires the student to develop at least one realistic and feasible strategy for enhancing his or her development. Full credit requires that strategies be both practical and feasible possibilities.
