What is symbolic convergence? Explain the two elements that lead to symbolic convergence.

What will be an ideal response?

Symbolic convergence is the emergence of group cohesion as a result of
creating and building fantasies. Specifically, the group begins with a dramatizing
message--some event that the group has experienced in the past or will likely
experience in the future. A dramatizing message could be a story, joke, or funny
label. The key is that it evokes an emotional revelation from group members.
This dramatizing message becomes a fantasy chain when other group members
pick up on and elaborate the dramatization. In other words, the group keeps
coming back to the story, joke, or label and adding on to it. In this way, the group
develops a bond, or cohesion, because of their shared emotional experience.
