Explain the right-hand rule.
What will be an ideal response?
For engineering, the axes usually define a right-handed coordinate system. Since most engineering analysis techniques are defined by a right-handed system, you should learn what this means and how to recognize such a system when you see it. A right-handed system means that if you point the fingers of your right hand down the positive x-axis and curl them in the direction of the positive y-axis, your thumb will point in the direction of the positive z-axis. This procedure is sometimes referred to as the right-hand rule.
Another way to think about the right-hand rule is to point your thumb down the positive x-axis and your index finger down the positive y-axis; your middle finger will then automatically point down the positive z-axis. Either method for illustrating the right-hand rule results in the same set of coordinate axes; choose the method that is easiest for you to use.

How many moles of A will be in the reactor at equilibrium?
The gas phase reaction A ? B + C has ?HR0 = 15 kJ/mol and ?GR0 = 10 kJ/mol at 298.15 K. Ten moles of A are placed in a reactor and the system is allowed to come to equilibrium at P = 0.2 MPa and T = 473.15 K. The ideal gas model applies. A. 0 mol B. 2.77 mol C. 7.23 mol D. 8.05 mol E.
