A research group has studied the birth order of gay men. Their research shows that consistently, across many samples, compared with heterosexual men, gay men are more likely to have a late birth order and to have more older brothers but not more older sisters. This is termed the fraternal birth order effect. This phenomenon does not seem to be present in lesbians, however.
