How are type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes similar and different?
Basically, the main difference is in etiology; i.e., type 1 is an autoimmune disorder leading to destruction of pancreatic beta cells, whereas type 2 is a metabolic problem caused by insulin resistance.
