Discuss the essential features of North American Jain temples.

What will be an ideal response?

In North America, Jains have continued their traditional business and professional occupations, with the same proportion of professions as in the United Kingdom. Jain temples sponsor worship (often held on Sunday mornings to fit a Western weekly calendar), education, and social fellowship. Although they have strong lay leadership, Jain temples in North America typically have no monks attached to them, so they function with little of the contact between monastics and laity common in
India. Another distinctive feature of North American temples and social centers is that they generally accommodate all the different Jain groups to which their members belong. In this way, they further Jain unity and survival in a North American context that makes sectarian differences less important than in India.
