List any 3 serious health consequences of anorexia nervosa and explain how this eating disorder can cause these consequences

People suffering from anorexia nervosa are often anemic due to insufficient iron intake; suffer from reduced body temperature and insomnia; have reduced heart muscle mass and function; have electrolyte imbalances; experience changes in thought processes; and can suffer from kidney failure. Anorexia nervosa is self-starvation that results in protein-energy malnutrition, and thus anorexia has the same consequences as the PEM associated with food poverty. Energy deficit results in wasting of lean body mass—muscles, and eventually organs—and this, combined with micronutrient deficiencies, causes malfunctioning of various tissues, organs, and organ systems.
