Compare and contrast the internal and external validity of quasi-experimental designs with those of experimental designs.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Varies.

Quasi-experimental designs lack the control of true experiments. Because they do not use random assignment, they cannot combat confounds in the way true experiments do. But while true experiments have higher internal validity, their high degree of control often comes at the sacrifice of external validity. Quasi-experimental designs are recognized for having high external validity: their results are readily generalizable and have high ecological validity (realism).
