What are the most common undercarriage repair systems (e.g., frame racks) used? What are their primary advantages?
What will be an ideal response?
FLOOR MOUNTED SYSTEM – Advantage: a dedicated floor or stall space is not required for the system.
PORTABLE BENCH SYSTEM – Advantage: both the dedicated fixture system and the universal mechanical system include very precise (go-no-go) measuring systems and eliminate any guessing of correct dimensions. The machines often offer end to end pulling capabilities which many others are not capable of doing.
RACK SYSTEM – Advantage: with minor modifications offer the capability of applying both pulling and pushing corrective forces. They are usually equipped with multiple pulling towers enabling them to be used for repairing both BOF and unibody vehicles. Their large working surfaces may also be used for such tasks as alignment and suspension repairs.
BENCH-RACK – Advantage: Multiple pull towers are removable and can be moved and used 360º around the perimeter of the vehicle. The rack, with the pull towers attached can be elevated above ground level to a more convenient working height.
