How can teachers go beyond class discussions and encourage deliberate responses?

What will be an ideal response?

You can encourage students to engage in follow-up experiences during which they actually do what they have read about and experience what the characters experienced. Often this is not practical, so curriculum integration also provides a way to help students experience a more deliberate response to the text. Curriculum integrations may include writing about what has been read, drawing it, or acting it out. It may also include exploring connections between the text and social studies, science, health, mathematics, and other content areas.
