How do norms contribute to and shape organizational culture?
What will be an ideal response?
Norms define the appropriate attitudes and behaviors of organizational members. This is a key aspect of organizational culture. These social expectations are important guides for how members should behave when no one is watching and when there is no one to ask for guidance. Norms are especially important for strategic leaders because norms and values can be shaped and managed directly; therefore, these leaders can have a direct influence on this aspect of organizational culture. Norms and values can be reinforced by leaders and the systems that those leaders put into place. When there is strong culture, organizational members have two choices, comply and fit in, or not comply, in which case they are likely to be excluded socially and psychologically.
