Explain the diff erence between packet-switched and circuit-switched networks.

What will be an ideal response?

In circuit-switched networks, the link between source and destination is established as a physical path and maintained for the duration of the communication. In packet-switched networks, our data are split into packets and each packet is placed on the network, finding the optimal route at that particular instant. Because the circuit is not reserved for the entire communication, packet-switched networks utilize the available bandwidth more efficiently and allow for more users.
