Describe the social interaction theory and how it evolved

This theory emphasizes that communication skills are learned through social interactions because parents and caregivers teach language during interactions. Because children have a need for attachment with the world, they are motivated to develop communication skills to convey information about their environment to others. Earlier theories held that children are simply born ready to develop language skills because of a special inborn language acquisition device. Later, behaviorists suggested that language is learned as children imitate those around them and practice what they hear. Today, researchers look at how everything interacts to affect language development. Vygotsky suggests that children supplement their independent skills with adult guidance and peer practice.
