In the float glass manufacturing process, the molten glass (raw materials) floating over molten tin bath is rapidly cooled, which solidifies it into a sheet. The sheet emerging from tin bath is slowly heated in the annealing chamber and then allowed to cool to room temperature before being cut to required sizes. Why is the glass subjected first to rapid cooling and why is it subsequently heated?

What will be an ideal response?

Rapid cooling ensures that molten glass does not have time to crystallize. This ensures transparency in glass. The
subsequent heating of glass removes stresses that get locked in the glass due to rapid cooling. If not heated, the
glass will break abruptly on cutting or the drilling of holes.

These types of views are established by placing viewing plane lines identifying where the view is taken. Each end of the viewing plane line is labeled with a letter, such as A for the first view and B for the second view. Consecutive letters are used for additional views. The view is then found somewhere on the print, and a title is placed below the view to correspond with its viewing plane line label, such as VIEW A-A.
