Discuss subgroup media and values.

What will be an ideal response?

Media distributed only to members can vary widely from graffiti to newsletters, but the subgroup’s argot and pictorial images will be used. To get an idea of the media of subgroups, simply visit a large newsstand. You’ll find specialty magazines that appeal to a wide variety of subgroup interests. Social media have also become particularly important for most subgroups in helping maintain interaction and, hence, shared identity. Most important, however, are common values or worldviews shared by members of the subgroup. For many subgroups, that common value may be a reaction to society’s disapproval—that is, “because we’re outcasts, we’re together”—but for other subgroups, the shared values may grow to provide a member with a relatively complete set of guiding values and patterns of behavior.
