To make a difference means to make a long-term impact in a positive manner on a child’s life. This may involve assisting to gain mastery of a difficult concept, encouraging a student to apply for college or enter a competition, or even showing concern to a student with a problem. Even building or supporting the growth of a student’s self-esteem can make a difference.
