An example follows: Twenty percent of elementary students have a mild conductive hearing loss. Difficulties with this type of hearing loss disappear once the ear infection clears up. A conductive hearing loss that is not temporary can be corrected with a hearing aid, surgery, or other medical treatment. In either case, the student may not be impacted once correction occurs or might be minimally impacted with corrections.
