Complete and accurate documentation about what actually occurred on the jobsite during the construction process is perhaps the most important record keeping done. This documentation illustrates the actual sequence of the project, personnel on the job, materials delivered to the jobsite, equipment used on the jobsite, and many other factors. These reports are necessary to remain consistent in content and consecutive throughout the duration of the project, without time gaps between documentation. Although this record keeping seems burdensome at the time, it is extremely useful in recreating a realistic picture of the jobsite at a later date, as is often necessary in the settlement of disputes. These records can be transmitted to individuals who are not directly involved on a daily basis with the project, keeping management aware of jobsite activities. Much of the event documentation is recorded by the field engineer or superintendent on the jobsite.
