According to Helen Fisher, what are emotion-motivation systems of love?
What will be an ideal response?
There are three emotion-motivation systems of love; they are discrete but interrelated. Each of
them has neural correlates, and they have evolved to help mating, reproduction, and parenting.
Romantic love evolved to support focusing on one single individual, making mating more efficient. It
helps to focus energy and begin a long-term relationship. Lust motivates sexual behavior, mate seeking,
and union with a partner. Attachment appears in long-term relationships, bringing the feelings of
calmness, peace, security, and stability. Attachment promotes maintaining a relationship for a
prolonged period of time, at least long enough to rear a child.
