Describe the cross-cultural value dimension of universalism

What will be an ideal response?

If policies, rules, and laws are not applied generally to everyone, the whole idea of rules, policies, and laws becomes meaningless. This thinking is called universalism. Universalism offers fairness regardless of social rank or situation. Taken to an extreme, however, universalism will ignore the particular circumstances of a situation. Moral principles may tend to become overly simplistic, depicting issues as black and white when they may be more complicated. Without flexibility, company policies applied without regard to circumstances will cause problems for the manager and the organization because exceptions to the rule do occur.
