Briefly describe the bad-check scam.
What will be an ideal response?
Other types of scams include bad-check scams that look like job offers, where the victim is asked to agree to receive money for an offshore company who cannot get it otherwise. The victim is offered 10% of the money. This might seem reasonable unless the recipient knows that no legitimate offshore company has any trouble receiving cash and converting it to their currency of choice. If a victim responds to this offer, he starts receiving calls and letters and real forged checks for thousands of dollars. The audit process of the companies whose checks were stolen will discover the erroneous cashing of a check in a few months and be at the door asking for the money back. By then, the scammer is long gone with 90% of the money.
