This has been the traditional way of thinking about global leaders. A second approach, called global domestic, has become more prominent. This defines role of global leader in terms of interactions with individuals from other parts of the world, regardless of whether one spends time living outside his/her home country. This is made possible by advances in virtual technologies and the frequency of international travel.
