• Help children learn that gender identity is biologically determined.
• Be aware of possible gender biases in your own behavior.
• Listen carefully to all children.
• Help children find the words to get their nurturance needs met.
• Use language carefully, avoiding bias toward male identity.
• Provide materials that show males and females in a variety of roles.
• Select children’s books that portray nonsexist models.
• Plan a wide range of activities and encourage all children to participate.
• Provide gender-neutral toys for infants and toddlers.
• Discuss blatant sex stereotyping with children.
