Identify and briefly explain the stages of the listening process

What will be an ideal response?

Stage one is receiving the aural stimuli , when sound waves are detected by the body's
auditory receptors. Stage two is selecting stimuli to retain. This means that you consciously or
subconsciously determine whether or not to pay attention to the stimulus. Stage three,
understanding the message, occurs when you fit the stimulus into your organizational
schemata. Stage four, evaluating the message, is the process of judging the reliability of the
speaker and the quality of the speaker's message. Stage five, formulating a response to the
message, occurs when you decide, or resolve, what to do with the information you received,
such as accept it, reject it, and/or act on it in some way.
