In your text, there is a list of task roles, maintenance roles, and individual roles. Explain one major

difference between the group of task roles and maintenance roles.

What will be an ideal response?

To understand the differences between task roles and maintenance roles you should ?rst de?ne each group of roles.
Task roles are concerned about meeting the group's goal or objective; focused primarily on getting the job done.
Maintenance roles deal with relationships within the group; concerned about other's feelings, creating a positive
communication climate, and solving or mediating con?icts. One major difference would be that task roles are
focused on the overall product or outcome of the group experience; surface level functioning. However,
maintenance roles dig a little deeper into "how" the group works together and is focused more interpersonally in
that manner. Maintenance roles help complete the task from a different perspective; by focusing on the individual
rather than overall function of the group.
