Assume you are a PR professional in the sports industry, and one of your clients is arrested for driving under the influence and causing a serious accident. What should you do and not do in this situation?

What will be an ideal response?

Situations, accusations, and arrests must be acknowledged and dealt with openly and honestly. Covering up is no solution; it just makes the pain that much worse later on. While it is the function of PR to cast a client in a positive light, it is not acceptable to issue false statements or to knowingly aid in the cover-up of an incident or issue that reflects poorly on them. Correcting an earlier PR misstep is much harder that being transparent and forthright from the start.
