The program expanded to include husbands and brothers of the Shakti Ammas in 2010. The men can sell products via bicycle, thus expanding the service area of the women who are limited to travel on foot. To date, Project Shakti has assisted more than 70,000 women and 48,000 men in over 165,000 villages. Project Shakti participants reach more than 4 million rural households. The program is currently being translated and adapted to other countries including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
