Describe trends in religious interests in adolescents and emerging adults.
What will be an ideal response?
Although religious issues are important to many adolescents and emerging adults, in the twenty-first century there has been a downward trend in religious interest among college students. In 2016, more than twice as many first-year students than in 1978 reported that they have no religious preference. A recent developmental study revealed that religiousness declined from 14 to 20 years of age in the United States. More changes occurred in attending religious services than in religiousness. The World Values Survey of 18- to 24-year-olds revealed that emerging adults in less developed countries were more likely than their counterparts in more developed countries to be religious.
