Why is it a misconception to assume that because scientific theories can change, that they cannot be trusted? What will be an ideal response?

Scientific theories have been rigorously tested by repeated experiments. There is strong
evidence to support them. As test methods improve and new technology becomes available,
scientists can refine a theory. Change in science is generally a matter of refining existing
evidence.
