What is a "sale on approval" contract?
What will be an ideal response?
In a sale on approval, the goods are delivered to the buyer primarily for the buyer's use. The buyer is given the opportunity to examine or try the goods so as to decide whether to accept them. Risk of loss and title to the goods do not pass to the buyer until the buyer accepts the goods. Any use of the goods that is consistent with a trial of the goods is not an acceptance, but the buyer who fails to give reasonable notice of an intent to return the goods may be held to have accepted them. The buyer's creditors cannot reach goods held on approval, and return of the goods is at the seller's risk and expense. These provisions recognize the fact that sales on approval are primarily consumer transactions.
