Contrast message titles and generic headings

Message titles are used to identify the section topic and also its major conclusion. Newspapers and magazines use this type of heading to serve as a preview or as an executive summary. Message titles are helpful for readers who prefer directness so they can skim just the headings.

Generic headings identify only the overall topic presented in a particular section. The general conclusion is not presented. Generic headings are used in most indirect reports.
