Recently researchers have found that there is the connection between family violence and animal abuse. This connection was first discovered by domestic violence advocates when they listened to the stories of women and children who entered victim shelters across the country. Besides recalling the horrors of abuse, they expressed concerned for their pets, which were often left behind. Research has documented that in 88 percent of homes with abused and neglected children there are also abused or neglected pets.
