Describe current infant feeding recommendations
Exclusive breast milk is recommended for the first year. Cow's milk should not be introduced until 1 year of age, and then whole milk should be given. Solid foods can be introduced at six months, but this is really dependent on the developmental readiness of the infant. Iron-fortified cereal is recommended as the first food. New foods should be introduced one at a time to note possible allergies.
