Why is it important to counter employees’ seeking equilibrium (resettling after moving to the edge of chaos) during organization change? What are some ways to counter it?

What will be an ideal response?

It is important to counter equilibrium during organization change because equilibrium is a precursor to death. Leaders can counter it by creating momentum through finding new ways to recognize and reward change champions, celebrating achievements that move toward the change goals, and hiring new blood (people with new ideas); and by implementing new initiatives that are aligned with the desired change, that will renew organizational members’ energy and thinking, and that continue to propel the organization toward the desired change. It is critical for the leader to continue to cause disturbances in the system even if organizational members beg them to bring the change initiatives to an end.
