First, test items used to measure students' attainment of standards usually measure more than students' ability to remember factual information. This means that when you plan your instruction to meet standards, you'll need to teach students to do more than simply memorize information, and you should also develop assessments that do more than measure their knowledge of facts.
Second, the items on the state assessment tests are written in a multiple-choice format, which suggests that some of the teacher-made assessments you create should be in multiple choice as well, so your students should have practice responding to this format
