How do you check the condition of a charging system?

What will be an ideal response?

To quickly check the condition of a charging system, connect a voltmeter across the battery. With the engine off, you will read battery voltage. It should be above 12.6 volts. If not, the battery needs charging or is defective. When you start the engine with all electrical accessories on (lights, radio, and so on), the voltage must stay above battery voltage. If not, there is something wrong with the charging system.
