Evidence can be classified by the type of question to be resolved. Evidence can be used in one or more of the following ways; to reconstruct the crime, to prove an element of the crime, to link the suspect to the victim or to the crime scene, to exclude a suspect, to corroborate or disprove an alibi, to provide investigative leads, to secure a search warrant, and it can be used in court to secure a conviction.
