Explain why it is important to test the sensor return circuit.

Many manufacturers use a single sensor return circuit for all of the BCM sensors. This makes a good ground critical since a sensor return circuit that has high resistance will cause all of the sensors to indicate an erroneous voltage reading to the BCM. A high resistance fault in the sensor return circuit may not set a fault code since the voltage values are within the normal operating parameters of the sensor.
