Define the term sexual orientation and describe its typical categories. Why are LGBT students often considered the “invisible minority”?

What will be an ideal response?

ANS: Sexual orientation is an enduring emotional, romantic, sexual, or affectional attraction that a person feels toward people of one or both sexes. Heterosexual means orientation toward members of the opposite sex; homosexual means orientation toward members of the same sex. Bisexual describes orientation toward both sexes, and transgender means having characteristics of the opposite sex. LGBT students are the invisible minority because fear often prevents these students from revealing their sexual identities. The majority of LGBT students do not feel safe at school.
