Your friend in statistics class says that the statistical analysis he chooses to use, the t-test, will suffice in determining the income differences between Texas, New Mexico, California, Nevada, and North Dakota. In an e-mail, explain to him why the t-test will not provide the correct analysis he is looking to achieve.

What will be an ideal response?

A t-test could be used to make multiple comparisons, but this would be cumbersome, prone to cumulative errors, and inconclusive. ANOVA allows us to compare across groups of categorical data.
