Explain how sugar units are processed during digestion

During digestion, disaccharides which contain two bonded sugar units are broken down into single sugar units. Polysaccharides, which contain more than ten linked sugar units, are broken into smaller monosaccharides so that they can enter the blood stream and be transported to cells which need glucose.
