Explain the difference between business format franchises and product and trademark (or product distribution) franchises

With business format franchises the franchisor provides the franchisee a defined format under which the franchisee operates the franchise unit, including a great deal of training and management support. The franchisee must adhere closely to the franchisor's operating procedures and management processes. With product and trademark (or product distribution) franchises, the franchisee has the right to buy, sell, and advertise the trademarked products of a manufacturer, but has considerable latitude in how to run the business.
