Discuss the process and timeline of child maltreatment investigations
What will be an ideal response?
After a report is made, it is screened in if there is enough evidence of child maltreatment. Child protection investigators respond within a specific time period depending on the context of the allegations. Children in immediate danger or risk may be removed from the home during the investigation or following the investigation. At the end of the investigation, the allegation is either founded or unfounded and the child welfare agency may proceed with court action or recommend other services.
