Regarding minimum wage rates, the minimum wage prescribed by federal law has been raised several times. Concerning overtime payments, the FLSA also states that an overtime rate of one and a half times the base rate must be paid for all work in excess of 40 hours during a given week.Regarding child labor, the FLSA forbids minors between 16 and 18 years of age to be employed in hazardous occupations. Those under 16 years of age cannot be employed in work destined for interstate commerce unless performed under a temporary work permit or for a parent.
