Training in hardiness skills and attitudes, such as coping, relaxation, and stress reduction, along with adequate social support, good nutrition, and physical activity, can increase feelings of control, challenge, and commitment which are central to hardiness. Hardy leaders can increase hardy cognition and behavior in groups they lead by helping others to interpret adverse situations as interesting, controllable, and challenging opportunities to grow.
