Why is it advisable to give notice once a valid assignment of rights has been made?

If no notice is given, the obligor would not know that an assignment had been made and would perform the obligation for the assignee. Further, this lack of notice has consequences. Full performance before being notified of an assignment relieves the obligor from any legal obligations to the assignee, while part performance would reduce the obligor's responsibility to the assignee.
